Trade diversification into new markets and new sectors is providing enterprising Canadian companies with opportunities to expand their global footprint.
The clean technology sector is where many small and medium-sized Canadian businesses are finding success, leading to well-paying and innovative jobs for the middle class and driving prosperity for all Canadians.
On January 28, 2019, the Cleantech Group released the Global Cleantech 100 list, which recognizes the companies that embody the most innovative and promising ideas in cleantech.
This year, 12 Canadian firms made the list, representing regions from across Canada and diverse sectors such as energy, biochemical and extractives.
All the winning companies are clients of the Canadian Trade Commissioner Service (TCS), and many have benefited from programs and services provided by the Government of Canada through its Clean Growth Hub partners.
For example, 10 of the 12 companies on the list received funding from Sustainable Development Technology Canada, which specifically supports the growth of Canadian clean technology companies.
