Marking the second-year of the Global Korean Post as of June 1, 2017, the Global Korean Post hosted a special event in Toronto on Tuesday, May 23, 2017.
Most participants are currently involved in Korean communities in Toronto.
They delighted with the first meeting for seniors provided by the Global Korean Post, enjoying their opportunities to engage into dialogues one another for the first time in the community.
The discussion was made under some topics : What kind of difficulties does seniors face?, What kind of help would be need for your living? What kind of service do you want to receive from the government?
In terms of the hardest thing they have as an immigrant, in general, they agree that language barrier is the biggest problem for seniors to face when they want to get proper services from the government programs.
Some healthy can freely enjoy with various activities provided by the Korean communities.
On the other hand, however, some concerns are suggested who and how to help those who are in unhealthy condition.
Other issues range culture gap between younger and older generations, food in nursery home, second generation’s lack of understanding of Korean root and abuse from children and etc.
