Yonah Martin, Deputy Leader of the Opposition, awarded Senate 150 medals to 5 organizations and 3 outstanding individuals of the National Korean Community, for their valuable contributions to the community and to Canada.
The special ceremony took place on Wednesday, October 31st, in the Senate Chamber on Parliament Hill, hosted by Speaker George Furey. Created to mark the 150th anniversary of the first sitting of the Senate, the Senate 150 Medal aims to recognize and honour unsung heroes for their volunteer efforts and contributions which have bettered the lives of others in their communities, Canada and beyond.
Following the medal ceremony, Senator Martin hosted a lunch in the Parliamentary restaurant; and His Excellency Maeng-ho Shin, Ambassador of Republic of Korea to Canada, hosted dinner at the Embassy. “Canada and our national Korean Canadian community are very fortunate to have such unsung heroes in our midst.
