Remembrance Day comes on next Sunday.
Canadians across the country will pay tribute to soldiers who sacrificed their lives during War marking the Veterans’ Week.
On November 11, people can honour Canadian veterans and active service members by observing a moment of silence.
Last year, on commemoration of Remembrance Day on November 11, more than 175 ceremonies were held across Ontario.
During Remembrance Week, beginning on November 5, 2018, Ontarians can participate by organizing a Remembrance Day or a Remembrance Week event and share their gratitude and respect online by using the hashtag #RemembranceDay.
More than 26,000 Canadians served in the Korean War, and 516 made the ultimate sacrifice.
Since Confederation, more than 2.3 million Canadians served in uniform to defend freedom and democracy—with more than 118,000 giving their lives.
21,000 Canadians lost their lives in 1917 during the First World War.
