Varley Art Gallery announces opening night for two new contemporary summer exhibitions on Friday, May 10s: Nava Waxman: Choreographed Marks and Sara Niroobakhsh: Zaghareet.
Through a series of photographic works, Markham-based artist Nava Waxman explores the performative aspects of painting in Nava Waxman: Choreographed Marks. By incorporating elements of dance and visual arts, Waxman explores ideas of movement, temporality and space in the creation of mark making gestures, and uses variation, repetition and sequence to establish a visual rhythm in her art. This exhibition, curated by Anik Glaude, will be on view at the Varley Art Gallery of Markham until September 2, 2019, and is part of the Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival.
